The young talented basketball players of Ekurhuleni, are assembled today at the Huntersfield stadium in Katlehong for the Ekurhuleni Basketball Academy talent development session.
This programme is part of the efforts of Ekurhuleni Basketball Association (EBA) to improving the basketball talent inherent in the region. The programme has special focus on the development of the girl child. This is one of many sessions to come and we look forward to the development of the young talent within the region and having a positive effect in the sport of basketball. Stay on cue>> The Gauteng Sport Awards nominations are now open. The Gala event will take place at Emperors Palace on 29 June 2013.
The event will be televised live on the day. Following the success of Fall Classic earlier in 2012, Braamfontein Blues Sports Club (“Braam Blues”) invites you to their 2013 Super 8 League. (For those of you that don’t already know) Braam Blues is a registered non-profit company that has been set up to deliver sports development programmes within the inner city areas of Johannesburg. The 2013 Super 8 League is one of a range of initiatives that Braam Blues will undertake, the majority of which are focused on school going children. We look forward to your participation in this league and hope that we can continue to build a relationship whilst enjoying, as well as developing the sport of basketball in the future. An indicative fixture has been attached but the following should be noted: registration is open to all teams (including ladies’ teams) and additional teams will be added to the fixture as and when teams register. Teams already included in the Fixture are not obliged to participate and may opt not to join the league; teams will be accommodated on a first come - first served basis; the registration fee for the league is R2800.00; and the closing date for registration is 25 January 2013. Especially with the buzz of a possible senior national league jumping off this year. So, brace for impact and… Stay on cue>> The weekend of 6-7 October 2012, saw a host of talented boys and girls from all around GP converge on the 3 Square basketball courts in Alexandra, Johannesburg.
The Gauteng Basketball Association (“GBA”) requested that school/club/team coaches send their best 5 boys and girls to be part of the Gauteng under 16 Provincial trials taking place over two sessions. The first session ran smoothly with parents on-hand to witness the proceedings and support their children. The next session will again take place at the 3 Square Basketball Courts on Josias Madzunya Street, Alexandra, Johannesburg. All sessions to run 9am - 12pm (unless otherwise specified). The objective of the trials is to select players ,boys and girls, who are aged 15 years and under to represent Gauteng as part of the Gauteng under 16 Provincial basketball squad. Players are required to attend both trial sessions. Please note that only players who are duly registered with the GBA and are Gauteng residents and citizens of Republic of South Africa, will be eligible to represent Republic of South Africa in official international basketball competitions. Players will be afforded an opportunity to register at courtside on the 13-14 October 2012, between 8Am and 9AM. Players will be required to pay a registration levy of R100, of which R25-00 will go towards the candidates registration with Basketball South Africa (BSA). Stay on cue>> We are saddened with news of the passing of Ronald Garura, Head Coach Basketball at St John’s College, in Johannesburg on Thursday morning 4 October 2012. A development Coach who dedicated his life to Basketball development. It is certainly a great loss for basketball. We extend our sincerest condolences to his family. |
